Pho-tog-ra-pher (noun)- someone who takes photographs, especially one who practices photography professionally. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a photographer is someone who takes pictures of people, places and things and want the viewers to feel something after seeing their pictures.
Is everyone a photographer? NO.
While almost everyone has the ability to create an image through the "click of button," that does not make you a photographer. Just because you are interested in photography, that doesn't mean you should become a photographer. Just because you have a DSLR, that doesn't mean you are a photographer.
What makes you a photographer?
A photographer must have three things: passion, confidence and patience.
A photographer must be passionate. Passion is what drives a photographer to learn more, do more and make their clients smile when they see the photos.
A photographer must be confident. Photographers need confidence in their work to continue creating beautiful images, and to help their clients trust them.
A photographer must have patience. LOTS of patience. Patience is for when you can't think of anything new to bring into your photography, and for when you feel like no one sees your passion and talent.
Passion, confidence and patience are important, and a photographer must also know their weaknesses in order to keep improving and providing their clients with quality images.
Above all, a photographer needs a support system (thank you mom and dad, my siblings, my husband and my friends for pushing me to keep going and for helping me be confident in my work)!
